I’m a Ph.D. Candidate in English at Duke University. I specialize in Victorian literature, and I’m interested primarily in the novel, nineteenth-century social sciences and psychology, narrative, and kinship studies. I’m originally from a little village called Abbotts Ann in Hampshire, England, but home is currently Durham, North Carolina.
When I’m not reading and dissertating, fun involves all kinds of travel (I’m currently working on adding a magnet from every state to my refrigerator), long talks, long walks, driving with the volume cranked, stories to get lost in, french pastries, the sound of crickets on summer nights, my tivo box, new stationary, baking (especially the smell), my bookshelves, english strawberries, local durham food, and any excuse for popcorn in a movie theatre.
Friends can find me on Facebook, and I’m currently toying (rather sporadically) with taking the plunge into the twitterverse…
